I agree! I am a huge proponent of giving to charity - we plan our annual donations to local and national charities, and our church. We never donate "on the spot" because you never know who you are dealing with. It's like "street people" (I call them that because I know not all of them are actually homeless...) always ask for money for food. I tell them that I can't give them cash, but would be more than happy to buy them lunch. 99% of the time they decline.

Adults prey on these children and have them out till all hours with no supervision. When I lived in Phoenix children would knock on the door in 110+ heat and try to sell candy. I just offered them some water and told them this was not a way to make money. These kids would wait for hours for their "ride" back to their own neighborhood.
