Here's what those tiny green salespersons aren't telling you: You might be able to buy those Girl Scout cookies cheaper elsewhere. Girl Scout cookies sell for different prices in different areas. The going price is either $3.50 or $4.00 depending on where you live. Local Girl Scout councils are actually allowed to set any price they want, so somewhere they could be charging more. Unless you are a total cookie monster and have been left really hurting by the economy, you should still buy local. The extra 50 cents you spend goes to programs. Girl power!
Michael,
I need to say that I have a Samoan's addiction. Every year in late January, I start scanning outside every supermarket I drive by, in anticipation of seeing that table and those stacks of cookie boxes. And the very first time I see one actually set up, since weeks and weeks have passed since the adrenaline kicked in, I end up buying eight, ten or even a dozen boxes of Samoans. Telling myself that this year I'll give most away.
And yet I think the most I've ever given away was one or two boxes. Because I'm a Samoan's addict.
And the pricing issue? Well, when was the last time you heard of an addict of ANY kind bargaining for less expensive drugs? :-)

Sounds like a lot of nonsense to me, Alan. Samoan's cannot be addictive.
Now in the matter of Thin Mints....no doubt about it. Highly addictive after even a minor exposure. Dangerous stuff, and worth the extra price.

Alan and Will -- you do know that all the GS cookies freeze well, don't you? Why not buy several cases to get you through until next year's cookie sale. You don't want to be caught out without a fix. Just a friendly hint from a GS Cookie Coordinator (Service Unit Level).

worth the extra price.

About the prices take into consideration how the cookies break down cost wise... as for our troop in florida:
3.50 a box
cost to buy the cookie 25 %
prizes for the girls 2 %
Council Services 55%
what our troop gets 18% (this money is what we use to go on trips and outings)
What is more important is that the girls can do things that most girls never get at chance to do and teach them skills that will help with life. If you think the cookies are to high we alway will take donation too!

The reason we buy the cookies is to be charitable and support our local communities. I am fine with whatever price they sell it for. I can always buy my cookies elsewhere.

I also found that some Vermonters could not get a good connection to the webcast even when it was working: examples of why we need better broadband in Vermont in a hurry.

I find it funny that the economy affected the prices of girl scouts cookies! I would prefer to by in my area for the 50 extra cent just to invest in those sweet girls :)

We just moved in to a new house in a nice area of a large city and I must say that the more expensive girl scout cookies are totally worth it! And the girls are so lovely.

Keep up the good work-- and to the Cons who are complaining, you really need to work a little harder at reading comprehension.

Smoking is bad for health. As many research work pile up indicating how harmful smoking, there is very little people do to kick out the habit. However if people try giving up the habit for some time as given in the article, it won’t be that hard to leave it forever. I found this information useful to quit smoking.

When SLA undertook the Alignment Project more than two years ago, a name change was not in our plans. However, the research has made it abundantly clear that we must consider one.
