AriZona Iced Tea makes a confession

AriZona Iced Tea is making a confession: it is not from Arizona and it loves New York (air kiss).

The company is coming under fire because of the new immigration law the state of Arizona recently rolled out. There are calls for boycotts of Arizona and companies calling the state home. That’s why it has become so important to the beverage maker for you to know AriZona is not really from Arizona. 

Companies that are based in Arizona include Cold Stone Creamery, PF Chang’s, Fender Guitars and U-Haul.

Health insurance companies get with the program... early

Health insurer WellPoint says it will start complying ahead of schedule with a health care reform provision that limits cases in which insurers can cancel coverage. Starting May 1, the Indianapolis insurer will follow a reform guideline that restricts cases of rescission only to instances where a patient committed fraud or intentional misrepresentation.

Many other companies are also moving ahead with reforms, including allowing adult children back on their parents' policies before the official federal deadline demands it. So if you have a need that is covered by the new regulations, call your insurer and find out when the new rules go into effect for your policy.

31-cent scoops tonight at Baskin Robbins

You know Baskin Robbins has 31 flavors, now you can get all 31 for just 31 cents a scoop.

Tonight the ice cream giant is offering the deal between 5 and 10 pm.  Baskin Robbins will also donate $100,000 to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. Firefighters will be scooping at some locations, or giving engine tours. Last year, Americans bought 4 million scoops on 31-cent scoop night.

Parking scam caught in the act!

Have you been caught up in this scam?

Conmen put on a dress shirt and tie, stand at the entry of a parking lot pretending to be the lot's attendant. The thieves pocket payments that should have been left at an unattended pay station. This leaves those parking their cars open for tickets and towing for parking without paying. So before handing any money to a lot attendant -- look for instructional signs. If you see one that says, "Pay station. There is no attendant," believe it. 

This scam is rarely caught in progress, but here's a recent case where the scamsters were actually arrested in Boston:
