After 30 years, the Fiat returns

Tell Santa this is what you want for Christmas: a Fiat 500. The minicar was a huge seller back in the 1960s and this modern version of the classic is about to be rolled out here in the U.S. Chrysler has told 400 dealers the Fiat 500 minicar will come out later this year. The car will be sold by about 165 Chrysler Group dealers in 125 mainly big-city markets starting in December.

Recall of 131,000 TV wall mounts

That flat panel TV might be getting ready to fall off its wall mount. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with, Milestone AV Technologies LLC, of Savage, Minn., today announced a voluntary recall of about 131,000 Flat screen television wall mounts. The elbow joint components on the wall mount’s arm do not fit together properly, causing the attached television to tilt and possibly fall when the television is adjusted. No incidents or injuries have been reported.

Movie producer busted for Ponzi scheme

Attorney General Edmund G. Brown Jr. has charged a southern California movie producer with 89 felony counts. The A.G. says Mahmoud Karkehabadi (aka Mike Karkeh), 53, owner of Alliance Group Entertainment, orchestrated a "cold and calculated" $9 million Ponzi scheme.

“This con artist sold securities under the guise of a loan to fool investors and try to avoid following the rules," Brown said. "He ran a cold and calculated scam, making promises he never intended to keep and using the funds of new victims to pay off the earlier ones." 

The take away from this is clear, invest in things you know about or only with trusted advisors.

Gas is getting cheaper

The Associated Press is reporting that gasoline prices are falling. Two surveys released Monday showed gasoline prices dropped in the past week. The average retail price for a gallon of unleaded regular was $2.708 a gallon Monday, according to AAA and $2.704 a gallon in the Energy Department's weekly update. No surprise here: California drivers are paying the most for gas, with a state average of $3.14 a gallon. The cheapest gasoline is in Gulf Coast states, where the price averaged $2.563 a gallon.
