From now until Turkey Day, expect to add another $5 to your airline ticket price total for every day you wait. On some routes ticket prices are already 20% higher than last year. Rick Seaney is the CEO of FareCompare and he says, "The reasons behind this are threefold: jet fuel prices are remaining stubbornly high even as gas prices go down; airlines have been cutting seat capacity over the last three or four years, with even more cuts in the last half of this year; plus, demand for seats is relatively good."

The price of gas is going up
The average price for a gallon in California is up a nickel over the last two weeks according to the Lundberg Survey. The average price statewide is $3.82 a gallon, with the lowest average price found in Bakersfield at $3.73 a gallon. Prices in the country also went up nearly five cents a gallon over the past two weeks to put the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded to $3.47 a gallon.

Social Security checks are going up
After three years of no increases, Social Security recipients are getting a raise. In order to keep up with inflation the federal agency announced all checks will increase by 3.6%. However, the cost of Medicare is going up, so much of that money will go back to the government.
