TSA liquid rule seems to get wiggle room

The TSA travel rules are still enforced, but the 3.5 ounce liquid rule seems to be given a little wiggle room. If you are traveling with a slightly larger bottle, that isn't full, you may have a better chance of getting it past the screeners. For those who want to carry water, but don't want to pay airport prices? The work around is to bring an empty bottle and fill it at the drinking fountain once you get past security.

American Airlines files for bankruptcy

The parent company of American Airlines, AMR, has filed for bankruptcy. AA is the nation’s third largest airline and the last of the major carriers to file for bankruptcy protection.  So what does this mean to you? If you hold a ticket there should be no problem, the airline says it plans to keep flying its regular schedule. If you have frequent flier miles there is probably no reason to worry. Those mile programs help the airlines more than their passengers. In past airline bankruptcies the FF programs have been viewed more as an asset than a debt.

American Eagle hit with $900,000 fine

The Department of Transportation fined American Eagle $900,000 for violating the new three hour tarmac rule. That rule says airlines must provide food, water and bathrooms as well as let passengers off the plane if the wait is longer than three hours. This is a new law and this fine made headlines, but here's what you didn't hear: passengers get about a quarter of that money. Travel law attorney, Al Anolik, says this is the first time that has happened.

Changes coming to small claims court

Small claims court is raising its jurisdiction from $7,500 to $10,000 per person. The change take place on January 1.  This is a much better deal than going through the Superior Court: Much shorter

2) If you have a smart phone, check out the bar code readers, like www.RedLaser.com. Scan the bar or QR code and find out what other local stores are charging for the same item. Amazing!

3)Online shoppers should check reward websites like www.Ebates.com which offer rebates from major retailers just for going through the websites.
