CA docs/dentists to save on malpractice

California doctors and dentists will save millions of dollars on medical malpractice insurance because the State Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones ordered it done. Here’s a quote from the commissioner: “These medical malpractice insurance rate reductions demonstrate once again that giving the Insurance Commissioner the authority to reject excessive rates can result in major savings for policyholders, in this case for doctors, dentists and other medical providers," said Commissioner Dave Jones. "It simply defies reason that the Insurance Commissioner has the authority to reject excessive medical malpractice rates for doctors and dentists, but does not have the authority to reject excessive health insurance rates for families, individuals and businesses.”

How bad are these people: counterfeiters are faking popular cancer drug. Genentech's life prolonging Avastin, which is used to treat cancers of the colon, lung, kidney and brain is being sold without the active ingredient.

Is your hair dryer safe? To find out, check the end of the cord. Is there an immersion protection device? That’s a plug with the red switch that pops out and cuts off the power if the drier comes into contact with water. For years now, most handheld hair driers have come with the immersion protection devices, but it wasn’t mandatory, so consumers have been put at risk. No more, the Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued new rules saying hair driers without the protection may not be sold.
