What to watch out for with restocking fees
Restocking fees are charged by retailers for the ‘privilege’ of returning an item, usually electronics. By law California stores can't charge the fees unless consumers are warned prior to the purchase. So ask if there is a restocking fee, and if so, what are the rules. Some stores charge restocking fees on TVs but not cameras. Other stores do just the opposite. Finally if you receive an unwanted electronic gift, don’t open the box. Many retailers will wave restocking fees if the box has not been opened.

Big shift in holiday shopping this week
You might not have noticed it yet, but a big shift is occurring this week for holiday shopping. Retailers that have both online and off line stores are slowing their internet pitches and firing up their brick and mortar store sales. Retailers believe shoppers will start looking to buy gifts closer to home as the days get closer to Christmas. Online retailers will also start offering some hecka deals since they are now competing with these brick and mortar sales. Pay for shipping? Not likely over the next week.

Airlines are getting in on Cyber Monday. Fare wars are common this time of year for non holiday travel, but today airlines are really going for it. Virgin America is offering $39 flights, Air Canada has some good prices on long hauls. Other airlines will be competing, too. So if you are planning a trip, take a few minutes today and see if the deals are worth getting in on.
