The best tax is the one you don’t pay and that’s why there is a love affair with rental car taxes. Who pays? Those who don’t live in your town. These special taxes and fees used to be confined to big city airports, but now little towns and little airports are getting in on the action, too. These outrageous fees can be 75% of your rental bill. With prices like that, it can be cheaper to take cabs. The easiest way to avoid the taxes and fees is to ask in advance and rent your car away from the airport. That’s where fees are really stacked up.
We recently rented a auto from National Auto and these are the taxes and fee charged to us: Note the taxes and fees are almost as much as the rental itself!
Rental Car Cost: $46.82
Rental Car Taxes & Fees: $31.29
Rental Car Subtotal: $78.11
The following break-down are charges PER DAY.
Consolidated Faciflity Charge: $3.25
Consession Re-cooperation Fee: 10%
Clark County Rental Fee: 2%
Vehicle License Fee: $1.15/day
Nevada Gov't. Surcharge: 10%
Sales Tax: 8.1%
Priceline - issuing agent for air flight and rental is not giving us the break-down of these fees, only the total amount. I asked them for it, but they said that National is suppose to do that. I have been checking with National (3 separate emails all to no avail). I finally called them and the girl gave me the break-down over the phone.
I thought it was law for these places to give you the break-down without having to beg for it?????
Just wanted to let you know.

Rip-off companies are on the increase, so I decided to put a website that allows users to see who is ripping people off in there area. Users can create reviews when they think they have been scammed, the website is www.tradebust.com if you have a story to tell then let others know, bust the rouge traders!
