So Toyotas are cheap now. I'll pass.

For the second time in a week my VW Passat just stopped running while I was on a major truck route and I had my 4 year old son Donovan in the car at the time. Very scary! And this was after an $800 repair last week for the same condition!

I left the car on the side of the road while I decide where to have it towed to.

I am contemplating having the car towed to the dealer where I bought it (the car is less than 5 years old!) and stop paying the note until VW fix it at there expense. A leaky water pump caused the timing belt to snap damaging a piston valve and now I'm told I need a new engine! I am assuming the replaced timing belt also snapped tonight. I can't get my head around how a leaky water pump can cause such catastrophic engine failure. What happened to German engineering?

I am attempting to pressure VW through the social networks (see my FaceBook page) to make this right. If you can help I would appreciate it.

regards, Trevor Seeney

It's so lucky for me to find your blog! I am very glad, and welcome you visit mine.

I am working on an application and need to understand how car rental companies move their cars from one location to another when there are too many cars left by customers at one location. One way is to give dirt cheap one way rental offers to customers originating some specific location. However, I am trying to understand do they use auto transport companies to do this for them? If yes how much business auto transporters get one average from such scenarios?

Also, do car rental companies have some sort of contracts with auto transporters saying they will move rental cars always or on demand basis?

Thanks for your time!
